Tucson, Arizona – June 15, 2015 – 9-Time World Karate Champion and a Tucson martial arts instructor for 35 years, Johnny Linebarger has now turned to fighting childhood obesity through his fun game called Pad Tag. The Pad Tag game, a combination of Tag “You’re It,” Dodgeball “You’re Out,” and Soccer “Running and Kicking a Lot,” has been a hit at the KoSho Karate schools throughout the country for 20 years. Starting June 22, Pad Tag will be available to the general public through the popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter.
“Pad Tag is a fun and exciting game that gets people of all ages up and moving, naturally and easily, running, hopping, jumping, dodging, kicking and laughing their butts off, “ says Mr. Linebarger. “I think Pad Tag could be really helpful in fighting childhood and adult obesity through play.”
In the United State, almost 32% of children and 69% of adults are considered either overweight or obese (http://stateofobesity.org/fastfacts/, referenced on 6/15/15). One of the possible reasons is a sedentary lifestyle, and through its easy, fun play, Pad Tag is a sure counter to that.
Battling obesity is a big problem, but Johnny Linebarger and his KoSho team are no strangers to making things happen. They’ve run the USAKF National Championships, the North American Cup, the USAKF National Team Trials and the International Goodwill Championships, just to name a few.
Through the Pad Tag Kickstarter project, Mr. Linebarger and team want to start the ball, or in this case, the pad rolling, toward a goal of 1,000,000 people up and moving through play by this time in 2016.
