July 18, 2014— Anyone who owns an earbud may know how hard it is to keep your earbuds on. Anyone probably have experienced their earbuds popping out incessantly while jogging, driving, getting on a call, or simply listening to music.

OwnPhones Founder and CEO, Itamar Jobani, has seen a need in this area of technology and has come up with the world’s first-ever 3D-printed wireless earbuds that are custom-fitted to both ears. OwnPhones is truly your own and all it takes is for backers to support Jobani’s crowdfunding project on Kickstarter to get this breakthrough product off the drawing board and onto people’s ears. The campaign aims to raise $250,000 from July 16 to August 25.

Custom-Fit is the Best Fit

3D Printing Industry website commends OwnPhones, “In a mass-manufactured world, nothing quite fits the individual…with OwnPhones, you’ll be able to wear a pair of earbuds that situate properly in your ears. Just yours!”

OwnPhones are custom-made to provide the best fit, best sound and most versatile earphones. It is the world’s first wireless, 3D printed earbuds that is designed exclusively for its wearer’s ears. The best fit, exclusive customization feature allows users to upload a short video of both their ears through the OwnPhones app, which will then be converted into 3d print custom-fit earbuds. From there, users can further customize their OwnPhones earbuds by choosing from a huge selection of styles, colors, and materials.

Jobani adds, “OwnPhones represents a new paradigm in manufacturing – instead of producing millions of identical earbuds for different ears, we 3D-print earbuds tailor made to each user. Ears are like fingerprints – each one is unique, so we were able to develop earbuds that are custom made to actually fit your ears properly!”
These custom 3D printed OwnPhones are also completely wireless, allowing full noise cancellation. This makes OwnPhones suitable for any lifestyle and activity such as running or biking. It can also be worn like a piece of jewelry that sound great and fit any ear perfectly.

Kickstart OwnPhones to Life

Jobani and his team have launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to take OwnPhones to the next step. The proceeds of the campaign will be used for the design and manufacture of additional electronics components, such as True Wireless Stereo and SoundScaping Chip. It will also cover the creation of a complete database of fully-scanned ears for statistical analyses, as well as the development of automated photometry correction processes. Production-level 3D printers and post-processing machinery will also be acquired through the proceeds from the campaign.

The OwnPhones team plans to create highly user-specific and customized earbuds that also provide the best sound quality and sound isolation. It will work using Bluetooth 4.0, with an integrated microphone for calls, and will be fully compatible with iPhone 4S and up, Android phones with LE hardware, and Windows Phones with LE hardware. It is rechargeable using a Micro USB, with a battery life of 5 to 6 hours play time, 4 to 5 hours using advanced SoundScaping, and 140 hours standby.

In return, backers of the campaign will get rewards ranging from discounts on the OwnPhone online store to personal ‘Thank Yous’, OwnPhones merchandise, to owning an OwnPhones package. The OwnPhones product package comes in OwnPhones Fit, Designer Fit, Smart Fit, and Jewelry Collection.

About OwnPhones

OwnPhones is the brainchild of founder Itamar Jobani, a former NY-based sculpture/installation artist who has exhibited across the US and Europe, OwnPhones was founded after Jobani experienced frustration when running and having his earbuds constantly fall out. Having experience extensively with 3D modeling, scanning and printing, Jobani decided to set up a team to create the next generation of earphones. The team included experts from many different disciplines: programmers, electronics engineers, 3D model industrial designers and more.
