September 26, 2014— Winter is coming, alright.
And with it will be car windshields that are filled with ice, snow and frost.
Friends Andy Wright and Dan Miller of Hollywood, Florida have created a magnetic ice shield for vehicles, called iceScreen. According to Miller, who have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 for the initial production run of the product, “This easy snow removal product will completely change your outlook on having to park outside this winter.”
IceScreen is a sheet of reinforced, double waterproof material that is designed to fit exactly on windshields. It has seven high-quality magnets: three on each side and one on top, to secure it on the vehicle. The magnets are protected from scratching the paint surface of any vehicle because it is round and covered with gel padding. The two flaps on either side of IceScreen is an added security feature because they prevent the cover from flying off, getting caught by the wind, or even stolen.
The use for IceScreen is not only for winter. IceScreen’s double-sided protection allows can be on one side for protection from frost and snow; it can also be flipped to its reflective side to deflect the sun’s rays and keep the car’s interior cool and comfortable. When not in use, IceScreen can be easily and conveniently rolled up and stuffed in to create a portable pouch. Aside from these features, Wright and Miller also added a special IceScreen app to notify users of the weather and remind them to put the IceScreen on their windshields.
IceScreen comes in three product packages: Deluxe Kickstarter Edition and Standard Edition. The Deluxe Kickstarter Edition comes in black with silver satin trim and is designed for sedans, city cars, and SUVs. Meanwhile, the Standard Edition comes in black, grey or white, with blue trim. It also has three sizes: medium (M) for sedans and city cars, large (L) for SUVs, and extra-large (XL) for pickup trucks and vans.
Miller and Wright is also releasing a “Keep Calm” Limited Edition IceScreen for sedans and SUVs, which come in navy blue with silver satin trim, with four magnetic pockets and no pockets. There is also the proprietary Mirror Mitz, which is a pair of side mirror anti-ice cover made in the same material as the IceScreen.
Miller says, “A clean window in the middle of winter no longer has to be considered a luxury reserved only for those with a garage – now anyone can drive away with a clean windshield in less time than it takes to locate your scraper.” He adds that IceScreen is ideal for small businesses, which operates with the help of vehicles on their payroll, “This quick fix will save you time and money. It can increase employee job satisfaction—not to mention get them off to work faster.
Through the Kickstarter campaign, Miller and Wright aim to raise funds to cover the manufacturing of IceScreen’s Deluxe and Limited Editions. In return, backers of the campaign will get iceScreen products individually or as a pack, depending on pledge levels. Higher tier backers will also get a chance to travel to Florida or Costa Rica with free airport transfers, hotel accommodations, meals, and dinner with Miller and Wright.
