March 3, 2015— Jess Moss started to write a book, Can You Keep A Secret, in 2005 after she was inspired by her nephew, who told her his secret about his astronaut’s friend.

Jess wrote the book as she was spending hours and hours in hospital rooms visiting her mother. But then, this project had to be put in the backburner when the Australian native had to move to London.

Now, Jess wants to finish what she started and has launched a Kickstarter campaign to seek support and funding from the crowdfunding community. She aims to raise £7,755 until March 24, which will help her self-publish the book.

“Can You Keep A Secret is about a young boy who has an amazing imagination and a lot of hidden secrets around his house,” says Jess. Her children’s book is a rhyming story with vivid descriptions and equally vivid illustrations from one of Australia’s top artists, Marc Lynch of Digart Design.

Jess samples a couple of pages off her children’s rhyming book over at her Kickstarter campaign, which have over 30 backers as of press time.

“I’m dedicating this year to making it happen and given the massive market that is Children’s Books, and the fact that a lot of publishers wish to use their own designers, I am looking to self-publish so I can have complete control over the final product,” shares Jess.

With the manuscript already complete and edited, Can You Keep A Secret is slated to be in development and design stage by April through June, just in time for its first print run on July, both in soft cover and hard book versions.

The funding from the campaign will be broken down to cover expenses for illustrations, designs, artwork, soft cover and hard cover printing, and many other miscellaneous expenses. Backers of the campaign can also get the chance to preorder Can You Keep A Secret in both hard or soft covers by choosing the appropriate pledge levels.

Other perks from the campaign include credits in the book, free copies of the Kindle eBook version, limited edition A3 prints of any of the illustrations in the book, signed soft cover or hard bound copies of the book, A4 mounted canvass painting of any of the characters in the book, and many others. Higher-tier backers also have an option of having Jess donate 10 copies of Can You Keep A Secret to the backers’ choice of children’s hospital, and many more.
