14-year-old Eli Wrathall Launches Gourmet Preserves Business through Kickstarter

August 17, 2015— At 14 years old, Eli Wrathall already has entrepreneurship in mind. He found an opportunity in the fruit preserves market which is always dominated by big-name brands that put different chemicals and sweeteners into their products. Eli thought to give these brands a run for their money by creating Wrathall’s Gourmet Preserves, a specialty line of handcrafted, organic, and gourmet jams, jellies, and marmalade.

Eli has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $1,320 from August 7 to September 5 in order to bring his brand to life and produce his line of preserves. He has spent hours and hours perfecting his unique recipes, and he hopes to use the crowdfunding platform to promote his preserves and fuel his goals.

“Wrathall’s Gourmet Preserves is a small home business selling handcrafted and organic, gourmet jams, jellies and marmalade,” says Eli. “My jams, jellies and marmalade are unique blends of fruits and spices, adding a new twist to a market dominated by the same old flavors.”

He sources his fresh, organic fruits from local farmer’s markets, and ensures that he uses only natural ingredients for his preserves. “My products are great as gifts and perfect on numerous baked goods, such as scones, waffles, pancakes, and in oatmeal, cream of wheat, and many other breakfast staples,” explains the Fairfax, California-based young entrepreneur.

His products include Peach Vanilla Jam, Plum Lavender Maple Jam, Spiced Grape Jelly, Citrus Medley Marmalade, Pear Ginger Jam, Spiced Orange Marmalade, and lastly Strawberry Chocolate Jam, which is made with fresh strawberries and 90% dark chocolate.

Once he gets funded from his Kickstarter campaign, Eli hopes to sell his line of gourmet preserves through retail and wholesale venues, such as local grocery stores, cafes and bakeries, gift shops, online retailers, and the business’ own online store.

Through the Kickstarter campaign, he will be able to secure necessary permits and supplies to get his business off the ground. In return, backers of the campaign will receive various perks based on the different tier levels Eli prepared. These perks include personalized ‘Thank You’ notes, 4-oz. sampler jars of the preserves, 8-oz jars, gift packs, induction in the Hall of Fame tiers of Wrathall’s, and the opportunity to name one of the brand’s future products.
